What to Expect
During an Evaluation
A testing session at Veritas Behavioral Health is a dedicated time focused on gathering comprehensive, objective information to answer the questions that you have.
While the specific assessments vary based on the referral question (e.g., Do I have _____? What accommodations do I need to be successful?), our process is always structured, engaging, and conducted in a supportive, comfortable environment.
The process
The testing session typically involves a mix of direct interaction and standardized measures:
Clinical Interviews: We begin with a detailed clinical interview, often with the individual being evaluated and, if applicable, parents/guardians, to gather a complete history and current concerns.
Standardized Activities: For children and adolescents, this involves activities, puzzles, games, and structured interaction tasks designed to assess cognitive skills, communication, and executive functioning. For adults, it involves a variety of verbal and paper-and-pencil tasks.
Observation: The evaluator uses structured clinical observation to assess behavior, social interaction, and emotional regulation in real-time.
Duration: Testing sessions are intensive and may require several hours, sometimes split across multiple appointments, to ensure we collect all the necessary data for a definitive diagnosis.
Our primary goal is to make the experience as comfortable and authentic as possible, providing breaks as needed. Following the testing, we analyze all data and scheduled a feedback session to discuss the findings and recommendations (the Veritas—the truth—of the assessment).
